The 2020 Census and Political Representation in California

October 11, 2018 · 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Capitol Event Center 1020 11th Street, second floor Sacramento, CA 95814

About the Program

California’s political representation depends on an accurate census in 2020. But possible funding constraints and fears of deportation among immigrant communities mean an accurate count is far from guaranteed. Who’s most at risk of being left out of the census? And how big would an undercount need to be to threaten the state’s congressional seats? PPIC researcher Eric McGhee will outline findings from a new report.

This research was supported with funding from the California Community Foundation, the California Endowment, the California Health Care Foundation, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
